The art of keeping it simple

Sometimes people comment that my bags are too expensive. When they do that I understand that a leather bag is an investment but I also feel an urge to bring them here to see (and feel) the process from the leather arrives to the tannery, till the finished bags leave the factory. I have nothing but respect for the artisans who work here and every little part of the process is equally important. If the leather has not been treated correctly the hand feel and colour will never be correct. If the leather is not correctly cut, the bag will never be exact and the list goes on and on.

When I was here with Line a few month ago we went to see the cutting and preparation process and I must say that this is one os the most fascinating processes I have seen here. A bag as “simple” as our classic shopping bag is made from more than 30 pieces. Inside the bag there is added a material to strengthen the leather without it looses its softness. And each little piece has to be cut. Everything is of course done by hand. Hands that has worked for decades -sometimes since they were as young as 12-13 years since only one generation ago people stated to work at a very young age. This experience can not be bought, it can only be learned by many years of training. The people I work with are proud and I understand why. When I see them work I feel extreme humble and grateful to work with them.

At the moment our shopping bag is sold out but I promise you it will soon be back in stock soon as I just found some very nice leather and made another order. If you wish to be sure to get your example you can contact our office at

This is Sara (pretending to be a craftsman in Italy a few months ago). Sara is my indispensable right-hand and she started in my company as an intern a few months after I founded it 3,5 years ago. She never really got the chance to leave again as I hired her right after she finished her education. Sara is not only one of the brightest, hard-working and meticulous persons I know, she also knows me and my company quite well. She actually knows everything so well that it is possible for me to stay here in Italy for one entire month and leave the rest to her back in Copenhagen.

Thank you, Sara for being one of a kind!

This month I talk a little about what I wear and why. In Danish, sorry;)

On my way

To Italy and this time I´m staying a little longer. My goal is to develop the entire collection while I´m there. Usually I work on the collection here in Copenhagen and then I correct the samples in Italy, but this time will be different. Can´t wait to get my hands in the material after a long summer where my new store has been my main focus. Remember to follow me on instagram while I´m away. I will update you with this and that from my trip. For news from my team in Copenhagen you can follow them right here

Limited edition part. 3

I always handpick the leather we use for our productions in local tanneries in Italy or Spain. To me the material is just as important as the design and the craftsmanship. Sometimes I find a leather that is extraordinary special like this soft and beautiful Italian goat leather. The colour of our new bucket bag is warm greyish-brown and I´m going to pair it with our ruby coloured suede pumps and a woollen sweater.

You might already know the conditions for our limited edition collections, but let me repeat myself; we only produce a limited number of bags in this leather and when they are gone they are gone, so if you like this quality I advice you not to think twice;)

Thank you…

…to all of you who showed up to our opening reception last Tuesday. But also to all of you who send me cards, gifts and messages. Luckily the sun was shining, music, fresh drinks, happy smiles and lots of love was in the air. Thank you for all your support in the process of getting here both to my family and my dear friends but not least to all of you I don´t know but who showed so much positivity and involvement. I could´t do it without you!

July 1st I took over a shop in Store Strandstræde 3, right next to Nyhavn in Copenhagen. Sweat, tears and blood have been invested in the renovation but it has been one of the funniest projects I have been involved in! Studio Oliver Gustav is the interior decorator behind everything and I love that he made this space so inviting, simple and personal. I hope to see you here as this will be my base from now on.

Line Klein and her assistant Chris followed the process from the day I moved in.

Store opening!

When in Italy…

…I always meet Piero. He is our “leather man” since he has had his hands in the leather industry since he was very young. He is working on a new and very innovative way to produce leather that will probably make a big difference to the whole leather industry. Unfortunately I can not get my hands in this leather before in a few years from now, since another leather company has taken out a patent on this way of treating and coloring leather. This new technique will minimize the pollution and be very gently to our environment. As a bonus the colors are very beautiful and natural. Until this leather is available for me I´ll continue to use the Italian stock leather that has been produced long ago and is just waiting for someone to discover its beauty. Besides this, I use buffalo leather produced in Italy in a small tannery, so I know the regulations within EU is respected. On my last visit to Italy Annika, my sales agent (who among other things is very good at shopping leather!) my assistant, Sara and Line went with me. This was the best team ever and lots of work was done in a few days. The result is a new limited edition collection that will arrive soon….
